NRC Announces Extra Services Across Key Rail Routes for Easter Travels
The Nigerian Railway Corporation has announced special train service arrangements ahead of the Easter season to manage the expected increase in passenger traffic across major routes nationwide.
In a statement issued by its Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the corporation said additional trips and dedicated services have been introduced to ease movement during the holiday period.
For the Lagos–Ibadan Train Service, three trips are scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2026. Departures from Mobolaji Johnson Station, Ebute Metta, will be at 7:45 a.m., 1:40 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., while trains from Obafemi Awolowo Station will leave at 8:00 a.m., 10:50 a.m., and 4:30 p.m.
The corporation also announced a special Easter service on the narrow gauge line in partnership with the Osun State Government. The free service will depart Iddo Station to Osogbo on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a return journey scheduled for Monday, April 6, at the same time.
Meanwhile, the Abuja–Kaduna Train Service will continue operating its existing timetable, with two trips on Thursdays and three trips from Fridays to Mondays between Idu and Rigasa stations.
On the Warri–Itakpe corridor, train services will run daily except Thursdays, which are reserved for maintenance. Departures from Warri to Itakpe are scheduled for Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 a.m., while return trips will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 12:00 noon.
Similarly, the Port Harcourt–Aba narrow gauge service will maintain its routine schedule, departing Port Harcourt at 8:00 a.m. and returning from Aba at 3:00 p.m.
The corporation assured passengers of safe and efficient operations across all routes and advised travelers to plan ahead, arrive early at stations, and adhere to ticketing and security guidelines.
