President Bola Tinubu has held a high-level meeting with Nigeria’s top security and intelligence chiefs on Tuesday. 

The session was called to review the tragic killings in Plateau State and to implement decisive measures for a lasting solution.

The meeting followed a violent attack on Sunday in the Angwan Rukuba community of Jos North Local Government Area. The incident resulted in at least 28 deaths and left many other residents with various injuries.

In response to the crisis, President Tinubu officially invited the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, to Abuja. The two leaders are expected to deliberate on a coordinated path toward restoring peace and security in the region.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, addressed journalists, describing the incident as a criminal act rather than a breakdown of national security. He emphasized that the situation is currently under active management.

Security agencies have launched targeted clearance operations and reinforced surveillance in high-risk areas to prevent reprisal attacks.

Troops under “Operation Enduring Peace” were mobilized to track down the perpetrators and secure access routes.

The federal government has directed all security agencies to ensure those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice. Meanwhile, the Plateau State government has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North to stabilize the environment.
