Tinubu’s Aide, Jaoji, Resigns to Pursue House of Reps Ambition

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

Salisu Jaoji, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership has officially resigned from his position. His departure from the Presidency is intended to allow him to focus on his legislative aspirations.

Jaoji submitted his resignation letter to the office of the President, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve. He highlighted that his tenure offered him a unique platform to contribute to the administration’s social welfare agenda.

The former aide is seeking to represent the Funtua/Dandume Federal Constituency in Katsina State. He aims to secure a seat in the House of Representatives during the upcoming by-election or future polls.

His resignation follows the guidelines of the Electoral Act, which mandates that political appointees must vacate their offices before contesting. This move ensures he is legally eligible to participate in the party primaries and general election.

During his time in office, Jaoji was instrumental in coordinating various social investment programs aimed at poverty reduction. He believes his experience in the executive arm will be an asset to his constituents if elected.

The Presidency has acknowledged his resignation, marking another transition within the administration as officials move into the elective political arena. His exit opens the door for a new appointment to handle social investment portfolios.
