One Feared Dead as Gunmen Attack Aso Community, Burn Houses, Vehicles;

Residents of Aso community in Mararaba were thrown into panic in the early hours of Wednesday following an attack by suspected gunmen who reportedly set houses and vehicles ablaze, leaving destruction in their wake.
The incident, which occurred on March 25, 2026, has left at least one person feared dead, while several others sustained injuries during the assault.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers stormed the community in the dead of night, unleashing violence that forced many residents to flee for safety.
Properties, including residential buildings and parked vehicles, were reportedly torched during the invasion.
Aso, a densely populated suburb within Mararaba, serves as a major residential hub for workers in nearby Abuja, making the attack particularly alarming for commuters and families living in the area.
Residents who spoke after the incident expressed anger and frustration over what they described as a recurring security challenge. In a show of outrage, some members of the community staged a protest, marching through the area and calling on authorities to ensure justice and improve security presence.
“We woke up to chaos. Houses were burning, cars destroyed, and people running. This is unacceptable,” a resident said.
Another resident added that the community has long complained about inadequate security, urging the government and security agencies to act swiftly to prevent further attacks.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. However, sources indicate that a full-scale investigation is expected to commence to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
The latest attack adds to growing concerns over insecurity in communities bordering the Federal Capital Territory, with residents calling for urgent intervention to safeguard lives and property.
