Adeleke Outperforms APC’s 12-Year Rule Despite LG Fund Seizure, Says Lawmaker

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lanre Oladebo, has said that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has surpassed the performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite challenges arising from the seizure of local government funds.

Oladebo, who represents Ayedaade/Isokan/Irewole Federal Constituency, made the remark while explaining recent political developments in the state. He noted that Adeleke’s administration has recorded significant achievements within a shorter period compared to the APC’s 12-year rule in Osun State. According to the lawmaker, the alleged withholding of local government allocations has posed serious financial constraints, particularly at the grassroots level.

He said the situation has affected service delivery and slowed down development efforts across local councils. Despite this, Oladebo maintained that the Adeleke-led government has continued to deliver on infrastructure, including road projects and rehabilitation of public facilities. He described the administration’s performance as “remarkable” given the financial limitations.

The lawmaker also called on the Federal Government to ensure the release of the withheld funds, warning that continued delays could further impact governance and welfare at the local level. The issue of local government funding remains a contentious subject in Osun politics, with stakeholders divided over responsibility for the alleged seizure.

Analysts say the debate reflects broader political tensions between rival parties as alignments continue to shift ahead of future elections.
