Obasa Backs Tinubu’s Second Term Bid, Cites Policy Gains
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, stating that continuity is necessary to sustain the progress recorded under the current administration.
Obasa made the statement on Sunday in Ikeja during an interfaith prayer session organised to mark the President’s 74th birthday. The event was hosted by the Mandate Movement.
He said the gathering was aimed at praying for the President’s health, wisdom and continued leadership, as well as for national peace, unity and development.
According to Obasa, the administration’s policies and reforms are already impacting the country’s socio-economic landscape, positioning the President for another term in office.
He highlighted key initiatives, including the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said has improved revenue generation for states, and the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, which he described as expanding access to higher education.
The Speaker also pointed to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project as a major infrastructure development with the potential to enhance economic growth and tourism.
Obasa further commended First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her Renewed Hope Initiative, noting its contributions in areas such as food support, women’s agricultural programmes, economic empowerment and digital education.
He called on Nigerians to support the President and candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.
Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, also praised the President’s leadership, urging citizens to rally behind his administration to ensure continued national progress.
Ambode said the government’s reforms have helped stabilise the country and expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future under Tinubu’s leadership.
In a separate remark, Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, commended the President’s economic policies and urged Nigerians to back his administration beyond 2027.
Other speakers at the event, including Stephen Ogundipe and Lanre Ogunyemi, called for continued support for the President while offering prayers for his health and success.
The event drew attendance from political figures, community leaders, religious clerics and members of the All Progressives Congress across Lagos State.
