Nigerian Leader Praised for Economic Progress

A group of former politicians has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to steer the country towards economic prosperity.

The Association of Former ANPP Members (AFAM) expressed its appreciation for the president’s achievements during a press briefing in the nation’s capital.

According to the group’s National Coordinator, Prof. Vitalis Ajumbe, the recent influx of high-profile politicians into the ruling party is a testament to President Tinubu’s exceptional leadership.

This development, Ajumbe noted, demonstrates the president’s ability to bring people together and work towards a common goal.

The AFAM has called on its members to throw their weight behind President Tinubu’s potential re-election bid in 2027, citing the need for continuity and consolidation of his accomplishments.

Ajumbe emphasized that the president’s performance has been impressive, and his ability to attract prominent politicians to the ruling party is a clear indication of his effectiveness.

Addressing concerns about the country’s political landscape, Ajumbe dismissed speculation that Nigeria is becoming a one-party state. Instead, he views the recent defections as a healthy sign of democracy in action, where individuals are free to associate with the party that best represents their interests.

However, the AFAM has urged President Tinubu to consider the interests of former ANPP members when allocating political positions, particularly in the future allocation of the presidency. Ajumbe argued that, given the ruling party’s roots in the defunct ANPP, CPC, and ACN, it is only fair that ANPP members be given a chance to produce a presidential candidate in 2031, following the precedent set by the CPC and ACN.
