Iran Declares Ukraine “Legitimate Target” Over Alleged Drone Support to Israel
Tensions are escalating as Iran has officially threatened Ukraine, calling the country a “legitimate target” following allegations that Kyiv provided drone support to Israel in the ongoing Middle East conflict.
A senior Iranian lawmaker, Ibrahim Azizi, chairman of Iran’s Parliamentary National Security Committee, made the statement, asserting that Ukraine has effectively “entered the war” by assisting Israel.
He claimed that Kyiv’s involvement reportedly in providing expertise or technology related to drones justifies Iran’s targeting of Ukrainian territory. The comments mark a significant diplomatic escalation, linking two geographically separate conflicts: Iran’s ongoing confrontation with Israel, and Ukraine’s war with Russia, where the country has gained experience combating Iranian-made drones supplied to Russian forces.
Iran has recently carried out missile and drone attacks on Israeli territory and allied Gulf states, intensifying regional tensions. Analysts say Tehran’s declaration against Ukraine may signal a willingness to broaden the conflict, raising concerns among Western nations and NATO allies.
While the allegations against Ukraine remain unverified, international observers are closely monitoring the situation. Any direct Iranian action against Kyiv could further complicate global security dynamics and prompt diplomatic responses from Ukraine, Israel, and their allies.
Ukraine has not yet issued an official comment on the Iranian threat. Meanwhile, the situation underscores the growing internationalization of regional conflicts, where nations far from the immediate battlefield can become involved due to technological or logistical support.
