Kebbi Governor, Nasir Idris Distances Self From Atiku’s Coalition, Affirms Loyalty to APC

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has dismissed rumors suggesting he is planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join a political coalition reportedly being formed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement issued on Sunday, April 27, 2025, Governor Idris described the rumors as “ridiculously malicious” and the handiwork of “uninteresting political comedians” seeking to create confusion within the ruling party.

“I am made in APC, by APC, and for APC. I am not a political prostitute. I will be the last person to leave my formidable and reliable party for any coalition, no matter who the architects are,” Governor Idris stated.

His spokesperson, Ahmed Idris, further emphasized that the speculation was entirely baseless and was being circulated to mislead the public and cause unnecessary tension within the APC both in Kebbi State and nationally.

Governor Idris reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the APC, stressing his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and reiterating his focus on delivering developmental projects to the people of Kebbi State.

The Kebbi State chapter of the APC also weighed in, urging members and supporters to disregard the rumors and remain steadfast, emphasizing that Governor Idris remains a pillar of the party’s structure and leadership in the state.

The governor’s firm response is seen as a move to quash any doubts about his political allegiance as the country’s political climate begins to heat up ahead of the 2027 general elections.
