Troops Repel Terrorist Attacks at Azir Bridge, Banki

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, have successfully repelled attempted terrorist attacks on their positions at Azir Bridge and Banki in Borno State.

According to a statement issued on Friday by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), the attacks occurred in the early hours of March 13, 2026, when terrorists advanced in large numbers in an attempt to overrun the military positions.

The statement said the troops responded with swift resistance, launching coordinated counter-attacks that disrupted the attackers’ formations and forced them to retreat.

The military operation was further supported by close air support from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, which played a key role in repelling the assault.

The task force said the failed attacks contradict what it described as misleading propaganda and false reports circulating on some online media platforms.

It added that troops remain firmly in control of the affected locations and continue to dominate the operational environment with sustained offensive operations against terrorist groups.

Operation Hadin Kai also reassured the public of the military’s determination to eliminate terrorist threats across the North-East and restore lasting peace to the region.
