Yari Welcomes Lawal to APC, Says it Will Strengthen Unity
Former Zamfara State governor and Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has welcomed the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the governor’s defection as a significant step toward strengthening unity and accelerating development in the state.
In a statement issued on March 9 by his media office, Yari expressed satisfaction over Lawal’s decision to join the ruling party, noting that the move reflects a commitment to progressive leadership and collective responsibility aimed at advancing the socio-economic development of Zamfara.
According to the senator, Lawal’s entry into the APC signals his readiness to align with what he described as the largest and most formidable political party in Africa, adding that the development would help consolidate efforts toward delivering good governance, improving security, and boosting economic growth in the state.
Yari commended the governor’s leadership style, describing him as progressive, innovative, and result-oriented. He said Lawal’s policies and development initiatives have already begun transforming key sectors in Zamfara and would gain further momentum through collaboration within the APC.
The senator also praised the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that his administration’s reform-driven agenda and inclusive governance have continued to attract leaders from across the country to the party.
Yari noted that the APC’s manifesto, which focuses on economic transformation, the fight against corruption, national security and sustainable development, remains a strong framework for both national and state-level progress.
He further stated that Lawal’s development initiatives align with the party’s ideals and the aspirations of the people of Zamfara.
“As leaders, history teaches us that unity of purpose is the foundation of enduring progress,” Yari said, adding that Lawal’s decision to join the APC demonstrates a commitment to prioritising the interests of the state above political considerations.
The former governor also highlighted the cordial relationship between himself and the Zamfara governor, expressing confidence that their collaboration within the APC would enhance political stability and accelerate development in the state.
Yari therefore called on APC members and supporters across Zamfara to warmly receive Lawal into the party and work together to promote unity and progress.
He expressed optimism that the renewed unity within the party would strengthen ongoing development efforts in Zamfara and position the APC for greater success in the 2027 general elections.
