APC Targets 10 Million South-West Votes for Tinubu in 2027, Says Bamidele

Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele, has revealed that the All Progressives Congress is working towards delivering at least 10 million votes from the South-West for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

The plan, according to Bamidele, will rely heavily on large-scale voter mobilisation and increased participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

He spoke in Ado Ekiti on Monday during the inauguration of a 57-member campaign council set up to support the re-election of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

Bamidele, who chairs the party’s campaign council for the 2026 Ekiti governorship election, said the June 20 poll would reflect public judgment on the current administration, expressing confidence that the APC would retain power in the state.

He also urged party members to intensify efforts to register voters and encourage them to collect their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of future elections.

The senate leader noted that although Ekiti State has an estimated population of about 3.8 million, only 987,647 residents were registered voters as of 2023.

He said the party aims to increase voter registration in the state by at least 50 percent before the current exercise ends in August 2026.

Bamidele called on party supporters to engage in grassroots mobilisation across communities to expand the voter base.

In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji thanked the senate leader for his support and pledged to run a campaign focused on policies and development plans rather than personal attacks.

He also urged candidates from other parties to respect the provisions of the Electoral Act and the Constitution to ensure a peaceful and credible election.
