Obasanjo Celebrates Agura of Gbagura on 100th Birthday

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated the Agura of Gbagura, Oba Halidu Olalekan Sodeinde, on reaching the milestone of 100 years. Obasanjo joined other dignitaries in Abeokuta to celebrate the centenarian monarch’s life and service to his people.
During the event, Obasanjo praised the traditional ruler for his exemplary leadership and commitment to the peace of Ogun State. He noted that attaining the age of 100 is a rare blessing from God that deserves immense gratitude.
The former president highlighted the monarch’s role in preserving the cultural heritage of the Gbagura people. He described Oba Sodeinde as a symbol of unity whose wisdom has been vital to the development of Egba land.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented at the ceremony, also lauded the monarch for his fatherly guidance. The state government credited the peaceful atmosphere in the kingdom to the King’s inclusive and fair governance style.
Family members and subjects expressed their joy, describing the monarch as a resilient leader who has witnessed a century of history. They offered prayers for his continued health and more peaceful years on the throne of his ancestors.
The celebration featured traditional rites and tributes from various sectors of society. It served as a reminder of the importance of traditional institutions in maintaining social stability and communal identity in Nigeria.
