Kano Community Builds Offices for Police to Boost Security
Residents of the Kore community in Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State have constructed and handed over new office buildings to the Nigeria Police Force in a move aimed at strengthening security and supporting law enforcement operations in the area.
The newly completed facilities, built for the Kore Police Division, were officially commissioned by the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who commended the community for its commitment to improving local security infrastructure.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Police Commissioner described the gesture as a demonstration of effective community policing, noting that improved working conditions would enhance officers’ morale and operational efficiency.
He assured residents that the command would continue to prioritise safety and respond promptly to security concerns in the area. The Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the project reflects the growing partnership between citizens and security agencies in combating crime.
He added that the additional office space would support administrative and operational activities, thereby improving service delivery. Community leaders in Kore said the decision to build the offices was driven by the need to reinforce security presence and foster closer collaboration between residents and the police.
They emphasised that security is a collective responsibility and urged other communities to support law enforcement agencies where possible. Dambatta Local Government officials who attended the event praised the initiative, describing it as a model for grassroots participation in governance and public safety.
The development comes amid ongoing efforts across Kano State to enhance security through stronger community engagement and collaboration with formal security institutions. Observers say such initiatives could help bridge infrastructure gaps and promote trust between citizens and law enforcement authorities.
