Adamawa Police Arrest Cameroonian, Nigerian With 197 Tramadol Sachets

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a Cameroonian and a Nigerian accomplice for allegedly trafficking 197 sachets of tramadol across the Nigeria–Cameroon border.

Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, saying the suspects were intercepted during a routine operation by operatives of the Border Patrol Unit in Fufore.

The suspects, identified as 32-year-old Muhammad Mustapha of Dorayi in Kano State and 48-year-old Muhammad Sanusi of Garoua, Cameroon, were allegedly transporting the illicit substances through Adamawa State en route to Cameroon.

According to the police, the drugs—197 sachets of tramadol—were transported from a South-Eastern Nigerian state and moved through Adamawa with the intent of smuggling them across the border. They were intercepted by border patrol officers during surveillance operations.

Preliminary investigations revealed the suspects’ alleged involvement in trans-border drug trafficking.

The police have directed the command’s Monitoring Unit to take over the case for thorough investigation and further legal action.

CP Dankombo Morris, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa, commended the Border Patrol Unit for its vigilance and professionalism and reiterated the command’s commitment to combating drug-related and trans-border crimes.

The command stated that it remains resolute in its efforts to curb illicit activities, including drug trafficking, within the state.

“The command remains resolute in its commitment to ridding the state of drug-related and illicit crimes,” the statement added.

The suspects are expected to face prosecution after the conclusion of investigations.
