Adamawa Tops as 616,873 Apply for Police Recruitment

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced that 616,873 Nigerians applied for the ongoing recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force, with Adamawa State recording the highest number of applicants nationwide.

According to figures released by the commission, Adamawa led with 38,989 applications, followed by Benue State with 34,511, Kaduna State with 30,397, and Borno State with 24,009.

At the lower end of the chart, Ebonyi State recorded 1,667 applications, Anambra State had 1,739, while Bayelsa State and Lagos State posted 2,430 and 2,448 applications respectively.

A breakdown of the total applications shows that 434,604 candidates were deemed qualified for further screening, 121,596 were disqualified, while 60,673 submissions were considered invalid. The gender distribution indicated that 442,592 males and 114,640 females applied for the exercise.

The PSC disclosed that physical and credential screening of successful applicants will commence on March 9, 2026, across designated centres nationwide. It added that the process would be conducted in collaboration with relevant agencies, including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, particularly for drug integrity tests.

The commission stated that about 50,000 successful candidates will eventually be recruited into the force, stressing that the exercise would be transparent and strictly merit-based.
