FCT Poll Victory Reflects Support for Tinubu’s Reforms, Says APC Chairman
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has described the party’s performance in the Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections and recent bye-elections in Kano and Rivers states as an endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform agenda.
In a statement issued on his behalf by his Special Adviser, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the results, particularly in Abuja, demonstrate public confidence in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and its governance direction.
He congratulated party supporters in the FCT, Kano and Rivers for what he termed the peaceful and credible conduct of the February 21 polls, noting that the victories recorded by the APC reflected unity and grassroots strength.
According to him, the outcome of the FCT elections holds broader national significance, as residents of the capital expressed their backing for the Federal Government’s policies through the ballot.
The APC secured five chairmanship seats in the FCT, winning in Abuja Municipal Area Council, Kuje, Abaji, Bwari and Kwali. Yilwatda said the results underscore the party’s connection with voters in the territory.
He also acknowledged the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in Gwagwalada, describing it as evidence that the democratic process was respected and that the will of the electorate prevailed.
Beyond the FCT, the APC chairman congratulated four State House of Assembly candidates of the party who won bye-elections in Kano and Rivers states, attributing their success to effective party organisation and public trust.
Yilwatda commended party leaders and members for maintaining discipline throughout the electoral process and lauded security agencies and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission for their roles in ensuring orderly polls.
He urged party faithful to remain focused on delivering accountable governance, saying the election outcomes signalled citizens’ desire for sustained reforms and measurable results.
