Peter Mbah Urges Love, Service, Peaceful Coexistence as Lent, Ramadan Begin
By Rachel Akper
The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has called on Christians and Muslims to embrace love, selfless service, and peaceful coexistence as they observe the sacred seasons of Lent and Ramadan.
In a goodwill message marking the simultaneous commencement of the two religious observances, the governor described the period as an opportunity for reflection, unity, and renewed commitment to shared values such as compassion, tolerance, and charity.
Mbah noted that both Lent and Ramadan emphasise fasting, prayer, sacrifice, and acts of kindness, stressing that these spiritual disciplines should inspire citizens to support the less privileged and promote harmony across religious and ethnic divides.
He urged residents to use the season for sober reflection, improved conduct, and strengthened dedication to peace, adding that unity and mutual respect remain essential for social stability and development.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies that encourage inclusiveness, peace, and the overall wellbeing of residents, while wishing Christians and Muslims a spiritually fulfilling period of devotion across Nigeria.
