Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a 28-year-old man, Ismail Muhammed, over alleged links to logistics support for Boko Haram in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Security sources disclosed that the suspect was apprehended on Thursday in the Visik General area of Hong LGA during a coordinated operation by troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters.

According to the sources, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent supply networks and cut off logistics channels sustaining terrorist activities in the North-East.

The joint security team reportedly acted on credible intelligence before moving in to effect the arrest without incident.

Items recovered from the suspect at the time of arrest included one AK-47 magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, a jungle hat, 10 bags of salt, two cartons of spaghetti, two sachets of seasoning cubes, a sachet of tom-tom candy, and bitter kola.

Security officials believe the food items and other materials were intended for delivery to insurgent elements operating within the region.

The suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing further interrogation as investigators work to unravel the extent of his alleged involvement and identify possible collaborators.

Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations and intelligence-driven raids aimed at disrupting the logistics backbone of insurgent groups across the North-East.

They also commended the continued support of local vigilantes and community members in providing timely information to security agencies.

Operations are ongoing in parts of Adamawa and neighbouring states as security forces intensify efforts to degrade insurgent capabilities and restore lasting peace to affected communities.
