Girona Stun Barcelona with Late Comeback to Seal Dramatic 2–1 Home Victory

Girona came from behind to claim a dramatic 2–1 victory over Barcelona in an intense league encounter that swung late at the Estadi Montilivi.

The match burst into life early, with both sides trading attacking moves inside the opening half hour. Barcelona looked sharper in possession, while Girona threatened on the break, forcing several moments of last-ditch defending before the interval.

A major turning point arrived shortly after halftime when Barcelona were handed a penalty, but teenage star Lamine Yamal failed to convert in the 48th minute, keeping the game level and energising the home crowd.

Barcelona eventually broke the deadlock on 59 minutes when defender Pau Cubarsí rose to finish from close range, giving the visitors a deserved lead.

The advantage was short-lived, however, as Girona responded almost immediately. Just two minutes later, Thomas Lemar struck to restore parity and shift momentum back to the hosts.

As the contest opened up in the final stages, Girona pushed forward with greater urgency. Their persistence paid off in the 86th minute when Fran Beltrán found the net to complete the turnaround, sending the home supporters into celebration.

Despite late pressure from Barcelona in stoppage time, Girona held firm to secure a memorable win.
