APC Unveils Committees for Nationwide Ward, LGA Congresses

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released the membership lists for its Ward and Local Government Area (LGA) Congresses Screening and Appeals Committees.
This announcement, made on Monday in Abuja, marks a significant step in the party’s transition toward its 2026 National Convention.
The comprehensive lists include the Ward/LGA Congresses Screening Committees, Screening Appeals Committees, and the overarching Congresses and Congresses Appeal Committees.
These groups are tasked with vetting aspirants and resolving disputes arising from the grassroots elections.
The committee rosters were formally endorsed and signed by the Party’s National Organising Secretary, H.E. Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, OFR. His office is responsible for the logistical coordination of these internal elections across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
In a press statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC emphasized the need for integrity throughout the process. Regarding the expected conduct of the officials, the statement noted, “The Party urges all appointed Committee members to discharge their responsibilities diligently, transparently and in strict adherence to the Party’s Constitution and Guidelines.”
The release of these names aligns with the party’s 2026 congress timetable, which recently saw the conclusion of a massive digital membership registration drive. These committees will play a pivotal role in ensuring that only qualified candidates advance to the elective stages of the congresses.
By establishing these appeal mechanisms early, the APC aims to minimize internal friction and promote a sense of fair play among its members. The party continues to focus on strengthening its internal democracy as it prepares for higher-level state and zonal congresses scheduled for later this year.
