APC Warns North Against Snubbing Tinubu’s Re-Election Bid
As Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged Northerners to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, saying failure to do so would be a disservice to the region.
Speaking in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, during a solidarity rally, Yilwatda highlighted the Tinubu administration’s extensive investments in the North, including infrastructural projects and capacity-building initiatives. He called on residents to support the President in recognition of these efforts.
The APC leader pointed to several major initiatives, including the Sokoto–Badagry highway, which will feature over 60 dams aimed at boosting irrigation, agriculture, electricity generation, and clean water supply across northern states. He also referenced the ongoing Abuja–Kano rail project, extending to the Niger Republic, describing it as a key step in positioning the North as a hub for trade and exports to neighbouring countries such as Sudan, Burkina Faso, and Chad.
Yilwatda said these projects demonstrated Tinubu’s commitment to national unity and inclusive governance, asserting that Northern support for the President is crucial given the benefits already delivered and those planned for the future.
At the rally, Yilwatda also welcomed thousands of political decampees into the APC, praising Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for infrastructural developments across the state’s 13 local government areas, including new roads, flyovers, schools, hospitals, and airport facilities.
In a related address, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who coordinates the Renewed Hope Agenda, urged grassroots mobilization to inform citizens about the positive impact of Tinubu’s policies.
Uzodinma highlighted achievements such as reductions in food prices, stronger foreign reserves, and improved currency stability. He also commended the President for declaring a state of emergency on insecurity and encouraged Renewed Hope Ambassadors to promote the vision of a “new Nigeria” under his leadership.
