Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to ensuring timely pension payments for retired civil servants.
He emphasized that public service does not end when an officer leaves their official post.
The Governor made this pledge during a meeting with the leadership of the Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries. He stated that retirees deserve respect and dignity after years of dedicated service.
Sanwo-Olu expressed pride in the state’s consistency in meeting its financial obligations to former employees. He noted that the government views timely payment as a fundamental responsibility that must be taken seriously.
He described the retirees as men and women who gave their best years to the development of Lagos.
Consequently, the state aims to eliminate any anxiety regarding when pensions will be disbursed.
The Governor acknowledged that while there is always room for improvement, the administration’s direction is clear. The focus remains on honoring those who have served the state faithfully over the decades.
Reaffirming this commitment, Governor Sanwo-Olu stated, “We remain consistent and timely with pension payments because it is the right thing to do. After serving the state faithfully, no one should have to worry about when their pension will be paid.”
