Sunday Igboho has called on jailed IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu to prioritize diplomatic engagement with the Federal Government. In a statement by his lawyer, Igboho advised Kanu to explore formal talks to resolve his long-standing legal and political challenges.
The activist praised Kanu for officially canceling the Monday sit-at-home order in the South-East. Igboho described the end of the five-year economic siege as a thoughtful step toward restoring the region’s stability and peace.
He encouraged Kanu to seek mediation, expressing confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is open to negotiation.
Igboho believes a peaceful resolution is possible through mutual understanding and good-faith engagement with the current government.
Igboho also warned those profiting from violence in the South-East to desist immediately. He emphasized that the “desecration” of the region must stop to allow for economic recovery and the safety of its citizens.
The intervention marks a significant moment of solidarity between the two prominent ethnic activists. Igboho noted that while the right to self-determination remains, dialogue is now the most effective way to break the current deadlock.
