Katsina University Honours Buhari with Posthumous Political Science Degree
Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Katsina, has conferred a posthumous honorary Doctorate Degree in Political Science on the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
The award, approved by the university’s Governing Council, was presented during the institution’s 14th convocation ceremony held on Saturday in Katsina.
University authorities said the recognition was in honour of Buhari’s lifelong commitment to Nigeria’s political evolution, visionary leadership, and dedication to national unity and development.
They highlighted his contributions to strengthening and expanding the tertiary education sector as particularly noteworthy.
The institution added that the posthumous award was intended to reflect on Buhari’s achievements in governance and nation-building, serving as a guide and inspiration for current and future Nigerian leaders.
Speaking on behalf of other honourees, former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ahmad Rufa’i, urged graduates to uphold patriotism, integrity, and selfless service to the nation.
“Deploy your education toward building an inclusive society where all citizens can live with dignity, peace, and equal opportunities,” Rufa’i said.
The convocation also saw the presentation of degrees and diplomas to graduating students across various faculties, along with other honorary awards recognising individuals for their significant contributions to national development.
