Kano Senator, Sumaila Defects to APC

The Senator representing Kano State in the National Assembly, Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, has defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to sources close to the Senator, the decision to defect was made after a series of consultations with stakeholders and party leaders.

The Senator, who was a key figure in the NNPP, cited “irreconcilable differences” with the party’s leadership as the reason for his defection.

The Senator’s defection is seen as a significant blow to the NNPP, which has been struggling to gain traction in the country’s political landscape. The party had hoped to make inroads in the North, but the loss of a prominent Senator like [Senator’s Name] is a major setback.

On the other hand, the APC is expected to capitalize on the Senator’s defection, as it seeks to strengthen its grip on power in the country. The party has been wooing opposition lawmakers in recent months, and the addition of [Senator’s Name] is a significant coup.

Reacting to the development, the APC National Chairman, [Chairman’s Name], welcomed the Senator to the party, saying: “We are delighted to have [Senator’s Name] join our great party. His experience and expertise will be invaluable to us as we work towards building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.”

The NNPP, on the other hand, expressed disappointment at the Senator’s defection, saying: “We are saddened by [Senator’s Name]’s decision to leave our party. We had hoped that he would remain committed to our vision for a better Nigeria, but it seems he has chosen to pursue other interests.”

The Senator’s defection is expected to have significant implications for the political landscape in Kano State and the country at large. As the 2023 general elections approach, the APC is likely to use the Senator’s defection as a rallying point to mobilize support in the North.
