A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Sunny Ozobo, has blasted the Governor of the Delta State, Speaker of the House of Assembly, and other party members that defected from the party saying that they have destroyed it under his leadership.
Ozobo, who was a former commissioner in the state, made the statement while reacting to the crisis rocking the party in the state.
He said that the party’s leadership had been hijacked by a few individuals, including Oborevwori, who have no interest in the party’s progress.
“We didn’t know that Oborevwori would destroy the PDP. We thought he was a loyal party member, but it seems he has his own agenda. The party has been destroyed, and it’s a shame,” he blasted the defectors.
Ozobo accused Oborevwori of imposing his loyalists on the party, saying that this has led to the exclusion of other members from the party’s decision-making process. He also alleged that Oborevwori has been using his position to settle personal scores with perceived enemies, rather than working for the party’s interest.
“The party is in shambles, and it’s all because of Oborevwori’s leadership style,” Ozobo said. “He has divided the party, and it’s going to be difficult to rebuild it. We need to take drastic measures to save the party from total collapse.”
Ozobo’s statement is the latest in a series of criticisms against Oborevwori’s leadership of the party in the state. The PDP in Delta State has been plagued by internal crisis, with different factions vying for control.
