Police Arrest Chinese National Over Alleged Rape

  A Chinese national, Li-Jian Yuan, has been arrested by police in Abeokuta, Ogun State, over the alleged indecent assault and rape of a 23-year-old woman, Wemimo Adebowale. Security sources said the 50-year-old suspect, who works with Zhiylian Global Quarry located at Kobape, was taken into custody following a formal complaint filed on January 30, 2026.

According to preliminary investigations, the alleged incident occurred on January 28, 2026, when the victim reportedly accused the suspect of sexually assaulting her under circumstances that are now being probed by detectives.

Police sources confirmed that Li-Jian Yuan is currently being held in custody as investigations continue. He is expected to be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation. The Ogun State Police Command has assured the public that the case will be handled with diligence and professionalism, stressing that justice will be pursued in line with the law, regardless of the suspect’s nationality.
