UNILORIN VC Mourns as Renowned Islamic Scholar, Prof. Badmus Yusuf, Passes Away

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN, has expressed deep shock over the passing of renowned Islamic scholar, Prof. Badmus Yusuf.
The news has plunged the entire university community into mourning as they reflect on his decades of service.
In a statement by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the Vice-Chancellor conveyed the collective grief of the institution. He noted that the management, staff, and students are deeply saddened by the loss of such a prominent academic figure.
Prof. Yusuf served as the Director of the Linguistic Immersion Centre at the university. Having joined the institution in 1992, he spent over thirty years building a distinguished career and becoming a respected authority in his field.
The scholar passed away on Friday at the age of 69 following a brief illness. His death is considered a major loss to both the university and the global Islamic community where he was highly regarded.
Honoring his legacy, Egbewole praised the professor’s integrity and dedication. “The Vice-Chancellor described the deceased as a hardworking and exemplary academic and administrator who made his mark in the services of the university, Islam and humanity,” the statement confirmed.
The Vice-Chancellor extended sympathies to the family, colleagues, and mentees affected by the loss. He urged them to find solace in the fact that the professor lived a meaningful life worthy of emulation.
In closing, Prof. Egbewole prayed for Allah to forgive the scholar’s shortcomings and reward his good deeds.
He asked for the deceased to be granted Al-janatul firdaos, marking the end of a dedicated life of service.
