Moghalu quite Labour Party

Dr. George Moghalu, the Labour Party’s candidate in the 2025 Anambra State governorship election, has officially resigned his membership from the party.
The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority submitted his formal resignation letter to the Chairman of his ward in Uruagu, Nnewi.
In the letter dated January 26, 2026, Moghalu noted that his decision to leave the party would take effect immediately after its submission.
He expressed his gratitude to the party leadership at the ward, state, and national levels for the support provided during his recent gubernatorial campaign.
Moghalu had previously made headlines in November 2025 when he publicly rejected the results of the Anambra State off-cycle governorship election.
In his resignation letter, Moghalu stated: “I bring you the good wishes of my family and write to formally inform you of my resignation from the Labour Party, effective January 26, 2026. Let me also thank the party, through you, for providing me the opportunity to use the Labour Party platform to contest the last governorship election of our state.”
