Rep Slams Bwala over Comments on Wike, Rivers Crisis

Rep Slams Bwala over Comments on Wike, Rivers Crisis

A House of Representatives member, Solomon Bob, has slammed Daniel Bwala, the President’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, over his comments on the Rivers State political crisis.

Bob, representing Abua/Odual/Ahoada East, criticized Bwala for claiming that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is no longer the political leader of the state following recent shifts in loyalty.

The dispute arose after Bwala asserted on national television that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is now the authentic leader of the APC in Rivers.

This statement was viewed as a direct dismissal of Wike’s influence within the ruling party and the Tinubu administration. Bob argued that such remarks are inaccurate and fail to acknowledge Wike’s significant role in the state’s political structure.

Rep. Bob warned the presidential aide to stop meddling in matters outside his jurisdiction. He emphasized that party leadership should be determined by internal structures and grassroots loyalty rather than by pronouncements from federal appointees.

The lawmaker insisted that Wike’s contributions to the current administration’s emergence cannot be erased by mere political rhetoric.

The lawmaker described Bwala’s intervention as an attempt to “gaslight” the public and create friction between the presidency and its allies. He noted that the Rivers crisis requires careful mediation rather than inflammatory comments that exacerbate tensions between the Governor and his predecessor. Bob maintained that respecting established leadership is vital for the party’s regional stability.

Bob also highlighted that Wike remains a formidable force with influence extending far beyond state borders. He suggested that attempting to sideline the minister would be a strategic mistake for the APC given the complexity of the Rivers situation.

He urged a focus on governance and service delivery rather than power struggles over party titles.

Expressing disappointment, Bob called on the presidency to ensure spokespersons focus on policy communication rather than local partisan disputes. He noted that undermining a sitting minister creates unnecessary division within the administration. The lawmaker’s stance reflects the deep-seated political tensions currently plaguing Rivers State as stakeholders eye future elections.

In a sharp rebuke of the aide’s stance, Bob was quoted as saying: “Bwala’s comments are not only reckless and meddlesome but also reveal a shallow understanding of the political dynamics in Rivers State and the APC. He should focus on his job and stop acting like a political mercenary hired to cause disaffection among party stakeholders.”
