Tinubu Approves Posting of Four Ambassador-Designates to Key Countries
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates to key diplomatic missions, marking the first batch of postings from the 68 nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate.
Those approved include Ambassador Ayodele Oke as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to France, Colonel Lateef Are as ambassador-designate to the United States of America, and Ambassador Amin Dalhatu as high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
Dalhatu previously served as Nigeria’s ambassador to South Korea.
Also confirmed is the posting of Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, former governor of Kebbi State, as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Turkey. His posting comes ahead of President Tinubu’s scheduled state visit to Turkey next week.
In a memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President directed the ministry to formally notify the governments of the four host countries of the ambassadorial appointments in line with established diplomatic procedures.
The approvals represent the first phase of ambassadorial deployments following the Senate’s confirmation of 68 nominees in December 2025.
The statement was signed by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
