Adopt Technology in Court administration, CJN Urges Registrars
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has urged court registrars to embrace technology and judicial automation to improve efficiency.
Speaking at a strategic retreat, she emphasized that digital tools were essential for managing modern caseloads and meeting public expectations.
She highlighted that the judiciary must adapt to rapid technological advancements to stay relevant. By integrating digital systems, the courts can enhance access to justice while maintaining high standards of data integrity and due process.
The CJN described court administration as the “heartbeat of the justice system,” warning that weak structures cause significant delays. She noted that administrative efficiency is “governance in action,” directly shaping how citizens interact with and experience the law.
She further argued that adopting technology promotes accountability and restores public confidence in the judicial branch. Rather than a disruption, she framed digital innovation as a vital enabler that allows the judiciary to overcome 21st-century logistical challenges.
Beyond technology, the CJN stressed the importance of financial transparency and staff well-being. She concluded that a well-supported, accountable workforce is fundamental to maintaining a judicial system that is both effective and equitable for all.
