Police Kill 2 Robbers, Recover Firearms in Anambra

Anambra State Police Command neutralized two suspected armed robbers during a fierce gun battle at Enugwu Agidi Junction in the Dunukofia Local Government Area.
The operation was carried out by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) following credible intelligence about a five-man gang moving through the area.
The shootout lasted approximately two hours after the suspects opened fire on the police team. While two of the criminals sustained fatal injuries and later died, the other three members of the gang managed to escape the scene with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.
Before succumbing to his injuries, one of the suspects reportedly confessed that the gang was part of the “Vikings” cult group. He also admitted their involvement in a previous unsuccessful attack on the convoy of Dr. Chris Ngige, the former Minister of Labour and Employment.
Following the encounter, the police recovered several items, including one T.06 rifle, two pump-action guns, 24 rounds of ammunition, and a black Toyota Highlander.
Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu commended the officers and urged local hospitals to report any patients arriving with gunshot injuries.
