Katsina Pays ₦45bn Life, Death Benefits to 14,560 State, LG Workers

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has announced the disbursement of N45.89 billion to cover accrued life and death benefits for 14,560 state and local government workers.

This payment, made between May 2023 and January 2025, aims to clear a significant backlog of liabilities that had accumulated since October 2019.

The total expenditure is divided between state and local levels, with N18.56 billion allocated to 4,743 state-level beneficiaries. Meanwhile, N27.34 billion was approved for 9,817 beneficiaries from local governments and Local Education Authorities across the state to ensure broad financial relief.

The governor explained that the achievement followed the establishment of a specialized reform committee tasked with verifying all outstanding claims from 2019 to 2025. This process was essential to ensure that the funds reached the rightful recipients and to restore trust in the state’s pension system.

Governor Radda emphasized that this milestone marks a new beginning for Katsina State, fulfilling his administration’s promise that no worker should leave service with unpaid entitlements.

He urged beneficiaries to use the funds effectively to support their families and maintain their livelihoods.
