Mbah Reaffirms Support for Armed Forces, Families of Fallen Heroes

Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained collaboration with the Federal Government in supporting members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, as well as the families of fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price in the service of the nation.

The governor made this known while speaking at an event held in commemoration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Enugu, where he paid glowing tribute to officers and men of the military for their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to the unity and security of Nigeria.

Mbah said his government would continue to prioritise the welfare of serving and retired personnel, stressing that the sacrifices of the armed forces must not be taken for granted.

According to him, ensuring adequate support for military personnel and their families is not only a moral obligation but also a critical component of national stability and peace.

He further underscored the importance of national cohesion, urging Nigerians to draw lessons from the painful chapters of division and internal conflicts in the country’s history.

Mbah noted that lasting peace and security could only be achieved through collective restraint, constructive dialogue, and a shared sense of responsibility among citizens and leaders.

“Peace and safety must be protected by restraint, dialogue, and shared responsibility,” the governor said, adding that governments at all levels must work together to address the root causes of insecurity and foster unity across ethnic, religious, and political lines.

The governor also called on citizens to support the armed forces through cooperation with security agencies and by promoting peaceful coexistence in their communities.

The event featured wreath-laying in honour of fallen heroes, prayers for departed soldiers, and renewed calls for improved welfare packages for serving and retired military personnel across the country.
