Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover Firearms in Nasarawa

Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered firearms during an intelligence-led operation in Lafia, the state capital

The suspects, identified as Kabiru Isah and Monday Bulus, were apprehended by officers attached to the command’s Anti-Robbery Section on Saturday night following credible intelligence about their alleged plan to carry out criminal activities around the Azuba Centre area of Lafia Local Government Area. Police sources disclosed that the duo had been on the command’s wanted list over their alleged involvement in a series of armed robbery incidents across the state During the arrest, operatives recovered one G3 rifle without a serial number from the suspects. A subsequent follow-up operation conducted on Sunday led to the recovery of an additional pump-action rifle, believed to be linked to the same criminal network Confirming the development in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the arrests and recovery of weapons were part of ongoing efforts by the command to rid Nasarawa State of criminal elements and illegal arms The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and dedication, noting that the success underscored the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing. He assured residents that the command would continue to intensify operations to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state Police said investigations are ongoing, adding that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of preliminary inquiries The latest arrest comes amid sustained security operations by law enforcement agencies to combat armed robbery and the proliferation of illegal firearms in Nasarawa State and neighbouring areas.
