Six Dead, Two Injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

A tragic accident occurred on Thursday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the NASFAT junction in Ogun State, leaving six passengers dead and two others injured.

The crash involved an 18-seater commercial bus heading from Lagos and a Volvo truck coming from Ibadan.

Eyewitnesses said the truck was reportedly attempting a U-turn when the bus ran underneath it.

Video footage from the scene showed passengers trapped inside the bus while some lay unconscious on the road.

Local residents and emergency responders worked quickly to pull victims out and provide first aid. Some injured passengers were reportedly taken by bystanders to an unknown hospital before official help arrived.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that six people died on the spot while two others were injured. The victims who survived were later taken to Famobis Hospital in Lotto for medical treatment. The bodies of those who died were moved to a morgue.

According to the FRSC, overspeeding was the primary cause of the crash. The Ogun State FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwumi O. Fasakin, has ordered a full investigation into the incident to determine all contributing factors.

Personnel from multiple FRSC units, along with police and TRACE officials, were involved in the rescue operations. Authorities continue to urge drivers to exercise caution on busy highways to prevent similar accidents.
