Soludo Signs N766bn 2026 Budget and Three Other Bills into Law in Anambra
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, alongside three other significant bills, signaling Anambra State’s readiness for the new fiscal year. The 2026 budget, increased slightly from ₦757.5 billion to ₦766 billion by the State House of Assembly, prioritizes economic growth, infrastructure development, and social welfare programmes.
Of the total budget, approximately ₦595.3 billion is allocated to capital expenditure, while ₦162.6 billion is earmarked for recurrent expenditure. The state anticipates a budget deficit of about ₦225.7 billion, which it plans to finance through hybrid funding, improved internal revenue generation, and concessionary borrowing.
Governor Soludo described the budget as a strategic tool for delivering on the administration’s promises and meeting the needs of the people. Alongside the appropriation law, he also assented to the Anambra Mission School of Nursing and Midwifery (Amendment No.3) Law, 2025, the Tax Clearance Certificate Law, 2025, and the Anambra State Correctional Service Law, 2025. These new laws are aimed at improving nursing education standards, streamlining tax clearance procedures, and establishing a legal framework for correctional services in the state.
The signing of these bills highlights the collaboration between the executive and legislative branches of the state government and underscores Anambra’s commitment to accelerated development and improved service delivery as it prepares for the 2026 fiscal cycle.
