Banditry, Insurgency to End by 2026, Assures Akpabio
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has expressed strong confidence that Nigeria will overcome its security challenges, assuring citizens that banditry and insurgency will be defeated in 2026 and beyond.
Speaking at a special prayer and fasting service in his hometown of Ukana Ikot Ntuen, Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and united as the nation enters a new year.
During the event, held at the Methodist Church Nigeria’s Cathedral of Unity, the Senate President emphasized that national progress is inextricably linked to a peaceful atmosphere.
He called on Nigerians to set aside political and personal differences to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in its fight against insecurity.
Akpabio highlighted that strengthened collaboration with international partners would be a key factor in neutralizing criminal elements across the country.
Drawing a parallel between the festive season and the nation’s current struggles, Akpabio remarked that just as the birth of Jesus Christ symbolizes redemption for humanity, Nigeria is poised for its own “redemption” from the grip of violence.
He urged the public to work together toward a more equitable society, noting that the “renewed peace” he envisions for the coming year is a priority for the government.
The service also focused on the importance of local and familial unity. The Senate President’s wife, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, encouraged families to live in selfless love, while the head of the Greater Akpabio Family, Chief Ekan Akpabio, urged those in political positions to remain connected to their roots and prioritize community welfare.
The gathering served as both a spiritual reflection and a political pledge to restore stability to the nation.
