Former Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi has appealed to Nigerians to Embrace Love and Harmony in the Wake of Rising Insecurity
As the nation celebrated Easter, Amaechi made a fervent call for national unity, peace, and cooperation towards ensuring the country remains secure.
In a statement read during Easter celebration, Amaechi urged Nigerians to love and practice unity, referencing the significance of the time.
In his Easter message, Amaechi was gravely concerned by the increase in the nation’s security threats. He condemned the increase in the wave of violence and extension of killings across the country. The former governor lamented the failure of the government to effectively tackle such security threats, urging the government to respond quickly and ensure citizens’ lives are secured.
“I am very concerned at the recent resurgence of the mindless killings of innocent citizens across different parts of the country. The major duty of government is to protect life and property. Government has an at least a minimum basic responsibility to the public and must respond promptly to a stop to the killings and attacks,” Amaechi further remarked.
Amaechi also advanced the need for national harmony, calling on Nigerians to set aside religious and ethnic differences in the national interest of the nation. He stated that Nigeria’s diversity should not be an obstacle to advancement but an inspiration for collective achievement.
“We are a multi-ethnic nationalities and religious country, but in chasing our aspirations and dreams as a nation, we must put the differences behind us and walk as one people to greater heights,” Amaechi said.
Amaechi, in his message, challenged the people to learn from Easter values of sacrifice, love, and unity. He averred that such values are necessary if they were to face the challenges facing the country. The former governor also challenged renewed resolve for national development, citing the Nigerian potential as a nation blessed with much and blessed with much people to achieve great things.
In Easter mood, let us demonstrate love and kindness to all as Christ demonstrated it to us and sacrificed His life for our salvation. I wish you all a Happy Easter,” Amaechi added.
Amaechi’s message comes at a time when Nigeria is grappling with numerous challenges, including security issues, economic instability, and political unrest. His call for unity and peace serves as a timely reminder of the values that can guide the country toward a brighter and more prosperous future.
