Mother Apprehended for Allegedly Arranging 4-Year-Old Son’s Kidnap in Kebbi
A four-year-old boy reported missing in Koko Local Government Area of Kebbi State has been found alive, while his mother has been taken into custody for allegedly coordinating his abduction.
The child, identified as Abdulmumini Surajo, was declared missing on November 26, 2025.
According to police sources, his father later received a distress call from an unidentified female demanding a ransom of ₦5 million for the boy’s release.
Operatives of the Kebbi State Police Command launched a swift investigation and eventually traced the ransom call to 25-year-old Maryam Muhammad, who resides in the same community.
Police say the suspect, who is married and the biological mother of the victim, was arrested and has allegedly confessed to planning the kidnapping.
The boy was rescued unhurt on November 29, 2025, at about 6:08 p.m. in Mahuta, located in Fakai Local Government Area of the state.
Authorities have since reunited him with his father while ongoing investigations aim to determine whether additional accomplices were involved.
Police have assured the public that further details will be released as inquiries progress.
