Four Killed, 10 Injured in Shooting at Child’s Birthday Party in California

A tragic mass shooting at a child’s birthday party in Stockton, California, on Saturday evening has left four people dead and 10 others injured.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. inside a banquet hall in the city’s Central Valley. Heather Brent, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed the casualty figures and stated that children are among the victims.

Brent indicated that the attack “may have been a targeted incident.”

Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee expressed profound dismay over the tragedy, stating, “A birthday party should never be a place where families fear for their lives… seeing our own children, parents, and neighbours go through this shakes me deeply.”

Mayor Christina Fugazi assured the public that the city would spare no resources to save the lives of those hospitalized, adding, “Families should be together instead of at the hospital, standing next to their loved one, praying that they survive.”

Local authorities have not yet apprehended the suspected shooter or ascertained a motive. San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas urged the public to provide any information immediately, instructing the suspect, “If you are this individual, turn yourself in immediately.”
