Delta State Receives ₦1.467 Trillion Federal Allocation Under Oborevwori (May 2023 – August 2025)
Delta State has received a total of ₦1.467 trillion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) between May 2023 and August 2025, according to recently released government allocation data.
The breakdown shows that the state government received ₦1.211 trillion, while the 25 local government areas shared ₦256.31 billion over the 28-month period.
The figures highlight Delta’s position as one of the highest-earning states from federal disbursements within the period, driven by FAAC’s statutory allocations, derivation funds, and other revenue streams shared among federal, state, and local governments.
A further breakdown of LGA allocations shows that Ughelli North received the highest share, totalling ₦13.52 billion, followed by Warri South with ₦12.31 billion, Isoko South with ₦11.47 billion, Burutu with ₦11.40 billion, and Ughelli South with ₦11.09 billion. These top-performing councils maintained consistently high receipts due to population size, administrative structure, and revenue distribution indices.
Mid-level allocations went to councils such as Ethiope West (₦10.97bn), Ethiope East (₦10.82bn), Warri North (₦10.55bn), Uvwie (₦10.52bn), Ika South (₦10.52bn), and Sapele (₦10.24bn).
The councils with the lowest allocations during the period include Aniocha North (₦8.94bn), Bomadi (₦8.48bn) and Patani (₦8.20bn), which despite lower receipts, continue to rely heavily on federal funding to meet administrative and developmental needs.
With the state government receiving over ₦1.2 trillion, the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori faces heightened public expectations on project delivery, transparency, and prudent management of resources.
Stakeholders across Delta State have called for clear accountability frameworks to ensure that both state and local governments channel their allocations toward infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, and grassroots development.
Financial analysts also note that published allocation figures represent gross receipts and do not necessarily reflect actual spending power due to deductions for debts, statutory obligations, and other financial commitments. They emphasize the importance of publishing expenditure details alongside FAAC reports so residents can track how funds are utilized.
As conversations on fiscal responsibility continue, Deltans are watching closely to see how the substantial ₦1.467 trillion received over the last two years will translate into visible, sustainable development across communities and local government areas.
