Former Lawmaker, Isa Ashiru Expresses Gratitude for Safety After Fire Guts His Mansion

Former Kaduna State lawmaker and 2019/2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Isa Mohammed Ashiru, has expressed deep gratitude to God for preserving his life and that of his family after a raging fire completely destroyed his mansion.

The incident, which occurred late Monday night in Kaduna, consumed the multi-million-naira property, leaving nothing but ashes and debris.

Although the cause of the inferno is yet to be officially determined, eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly before emergency responders could bring it under control.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Ashiru described the destruction of his residence as “a painful and shocking loss”, but thanked God that no lives were lost in the blaze.

“I am profoundly grateful for the safety of my family and everyone around the property. The loss of the house is devastating, but life is far more precious,” he said.

The former lawmaker also thanked neighbours, supporters, and the Kaduna State Fire Service for their swift efforts to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

He urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to establish the cause of the incident.

Messages of solidarity have since poured in from political associates, community leaders, and members of the public, who described the incident as a major setback but encouraged Ashiru to remain strong.

Further details are expected as investigations progress.
