Ondo APC Chief Targets Victory for Tinubu in 2027, Rallies Members for Unity

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Ade Adetimehin, has urged party members to close ranks and work collectively toward securing victory for President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 general elections.

Adetimehin made the appeal on Sunday in Akure while addressing members during a reception for hundreds of new entrants from the Action Alliance, led by the party’s state chairman, Comrade Alfred Akinuli.

He said the party had continued to attract fresh supporters due to the visible performance of President Tinubu’s administration, adding that unity, discipline, and grassroots mobilisation were essential to sustaining the APC’s dominance in the state.

“Our party has the capacity to absorb as many members as possible because we have an established mechanism for running it,” Adetimehin said. “What we need most now is unity and hard work to win the state again for President Bola Tinubu.”

He reminded party leaders that political strength is measured at the grassroots level, saying, “Politics is played at the polling units. Any leader who cannot win his unit is not worthy of leadership. Once you can deliver your unit, you are a true leader.”

Speaking on the defection, Akinuli said the Action Alliance members decided to join the APC after extensive consultations, describing the move as a deliberate step toward advancing progressive governance.

“We decided to join the APC because we believe this is the time to move forward, particularly in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said. “For us to deliver massive votes, the best way is not to waste our votes in the opposition but to join forces with the ruling party.”

He revealed that the defectors included two former Action Alliance chairmen, several local government executives, and a former deputy governorship candidate, all of whom pledged loyalty to the APC’s leadership in the state.

Adetimehin commended the new members for their decision and assured them of equal opportunity within the party.

The defection adds to a growing list of politicians crossing into the APC from opposition parties in Ondo State ahead of the 2027 elections. Among the latest high-profile defectors is Festus Akingbaso, the member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling party.
