Tinubu Decorates New Service Chiefs After Senate Confirmation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially decorated the newly appointed Service Chiefs following their confirmation by the Senate.

The investiture and decoration ceremony took place on Thursday at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with top government officials, family members of the officers, and senior military personnel in attendance.

The newly decorated Service Chiefs are Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major General W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke.

Also present was Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General E.A.P. Undiendeye, who retains his appointment.

In his remarks, President Tinubu charged the Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating professionalism, discipline and an uncompromising commitment to national security.

He reiterated his administration’s determination to tackle all forms of insecurity and restore peace and stability across the country.

Tinubu praised the Armed Forces for operations that have restored calm in some flashpoints, rescued kidnapped citizens, and degraded terror networks, but warned that security threats continue to evolve and require decisive action.

The President assured the new chiefs that the government would provide necessary logistics, training and welfare support to enable the military to carry out its constitutional duties effectively.

The newly decorated Service Chiefs, who had earlier appeared before the Senate for screening and confirmation, pledged their loyalty to the President and the Federal Republic of Nigeria and vowed to intensify efforts toward ensuring national security and unity.
