Sadiq Dasin is Recognised Adamawa APC Leader, Says National Body
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) national headquarters has stepped in to resolve a persistent leadership crisis in its Adamawa State chapter by officially recognizing Sadiq Dasin as the Interim Party Chairman.
This decision comes amidst reports of a growing division where three different individuals were claiming the interim chairmanship position.
The crisis reportedly stems from an internal power struggle that has pitted loyalists of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, against those of Senator Aishatu Binani. Adding to the complexity, the incumbent chairman, Shehu Yohanna, insists he remains the substantive leader of the party in the state.
The party’s spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, issued a statement on Wednesday confirming that the division had come to the notice of the national headquarters.
The national body affirmed that the recognition of Dasin is in line with the National Working Committee’s (NWC) approval and guidelines.
The ADC stated that after “due investigations,” it validated the process that produced Dasin on Saturday, October 25, which was supervised by the National Vice Chairman for the North East.
The ADC national body used the statement to call for unity and discipline:
The party encouraged all members involved in separate arrangements to “have a rethink and follow the path of reconciliation.”
The new Interim Chairman, Sadiq Dasin, was specifically urged to “extend the hand of fellowship to all and address genuine grievances.”
The ADC reiterated its commitment to fairness and justice but warned that it “will, however, not tolerate any act of indiscipline that is likely to jeopardise ongoing efforts to build a strong and truly democratic party.”
