No Political Motive Behind Oluremi Tinubu’s Donation of CNG Buses, Says YOWICAN
The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has dismissed insinuations that the recent donation of seven hybrid Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) 18-seater buses by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was politically motivated or linked to the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the youth body described the gesture as a genuine act of support aimed at easing transportation challenges faced by its members across the country.
According to YOWICAN, the donation was made under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), the First Lady’s pet project, which has consistently demonstrated commitment to empowering youth groups, women, and vulnerable communities irrespective of political or religious affiliations.
The group emphasized that the buses were provided to strengthen its capacity for community outreach and developmental programs, not as a political tool.
“Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s gesture is purely humanitarian. It aligns with her track record of service and compassion, not politics,” the statement read.
“We urge the public to disregard unfounded claims suggesting ulterior motives. The youth wing remains focused on nation-building and strengthening unity among Nigerian Christians.”
YOWICAN further commended the First Lady for her continuous support for youth development and national integration, adding that the initiative would contribute significantly to the association’s mobility and project delivery across Nigeria.
The organization also called on other public-spirited individuals and institutions to emulate the First Lady’s example by supporting initiatives that promote social welfare and economic empowerment.
