Ondo Police Burst Baby Factory, Rescue Five Pregnant Victims, Baby Boy
The Ondo State Police Command has successfully raided a suspected baby factory and human trafficking syndicate operating in the Ore area of Odigbo Local Government Area.
The operation led to the rescue of five pregnant girls and a baby boy, and the arrest of the prime suspect and her accomplices.
The Command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the rescue and disclosed that the suspects confessed to running the facility as a baby factory. The babies were allegedly being sold for prices ranging from N400,000 to N600,000, depending on the gender.
The prime suspect, Ada Clement, and her accomplices admitted that “young pregnant girls were kept at the facility until delivery, after which their babies were sold to individuals seeking children.”
The operation was initiated following a report from a 17-year-old victim, Vivian Peter, from Akwa Ibom State. Vivian was trafficked to Ore under the false promise of a job but was taken to the baby factory. She managed to escape after being instructed to go for a medical scan at an external hospital and promptly reported the incident to the Ore Divisional Police Headquarters.
Police operatives from the Ore Division, in collaboration with the Gender Unit, acted swiftly on her report to raid the facility. One of the rescued girls had already given birth and is receiving post-natal care, while the other pregnant victims are in protective custody. The case has been transferred to the Command’s Gender-Based Violence Unit for thorough investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to ensure all members of the trafficking ring are apprehended and prosecuted.
In a separate security breakthrough, Ondo Police operatives arrested a 20-year-old suspected kidnapper, Abdullahi Ibrahim, who is described as a member of a notorious syndicate terrorizing travelers across major highways in the South-West, including the Benin–Ore Expressway and Sagamu–Lagos Expressway.
Ibrahim, a resident of Ore, confessed that his gang’s operations spanned several southern states, with the group using state boundaries to evade detection. Following his confession, the State Anti-Kidnapping Section (SAKS) tracked and arrested two additional suspects in Benin City, Edo State. The suspects are currently in custody and assisting with the ongoing investigation to track down other fleeing gang members.
